Following the arrival at the Regiment in April 2009 the preparatory work started to enable Salut to act as fanfare trumpeter horse in the Royal Horse Guard.
For this purpose Salut was trained to accept trumpet play from the rider, the equipment and the city environment. In July the horses had a month of rest and grazing.
Only a few weeks later Salut made his debut in the parade Changing of the Guards at the Royal Palace on July 20 2009. He performed perfectly!
Salut is here number two from the left in the picture.
Again to the left in the picture.
Many things to look at for a debutant.
Having behaved so well on his first mission Salut here gets a well earned pat from his rider.
